Ms. Terri will read some of our favorite books, Brave Books, Bible stories, plus so many more GREAT books!
Books are foundational in all of our programs. We build a love for books starting at the earliest of ages. We know that creating a love for books will cultivate a love for reading and learning that they will take with them into adulthood.

We teach preschoolers the Better Alphabet Song right away so when they start reading they will have a head start on the letters and what sounds they make. Once they begin reading, they will be ready for Secret Stories phonics lessons which help them understand how to sound out and spell words in the English language.
We are a Premier, Private School in Arlington, Texas that offers an exceptional education for Kindergarten-3rd grade. Our goal is to provide a safe and happy place for children where they can learn and grow physically, emotionally, intellectually and socially at their own pace. We believe children learn best through play.
We are a child-led, teacher supported, play-based program. Children learn best through first-hand experiences. Play motivates, stimulates and supports children in their development of skills, concepts, language acquisition, communication skills, and concentration. During play, children use all of their senses, must convey their thoughts and emotions, explore their environment, and connect what they already know with new knowledge, skills and attitudes.
Activities and resources will be offered which stimulate sensory motor development, language development and social interaction. The development of a strong self-esteem is also a major goal. Children will be taught to respect each other, adults, and property. We follow a "whole child" philosophy where we partner with you to improve your child's Social, Emotional, Cognitive, Language and Physical skills.
Our Elementary classes are Subject-based, Teacher-supported. We have that portion of our classes in the afternoons. When the subjects are completed, the children will return to the play-based activities.
Enrollment Policy
There are a few forms that must be completed and, in our possession, before we can assume the responsibility of teaching your child. There are no exceptions. You are required to keep us informed of any change in address, telephone numbers, and any other pertinent information on these forms as they arise. An immunization exemption form is required if you do not vaccinate.
Holding A Space
If it is decided that your child(ren) will enroll in BCAA, and you will not be placing your child(ren) with me until a later date, you must pay the first two week’s tuition, supply/curriculum fee up front to hold your space. All fee rules apply. The deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE if you decide (for any reason) that you will not be enrolling your child(ren). All paperwork is due at that time, as well. If those are NOT paid the spot will NOT be considered yours.
Open Door Policy
We maintain an open-door policy. This means you are always welcome to call or drop in to see your child(ren) at any time during regular hours. It does not mean my door will always be unlocked, for safety reasons. Please keep in mind that when visitors are here, the children tend to get distracted from the work they are doing.
Arrivals/Departures
Please arrive and pick up ON TIME. We have a lot to do in class. Your drop off and pick up time is on your contract and is agreed upon when you enroll your child in our school. If you need to change it, please give us as much notice as possible. We will consider your request and make the change if we are able. We are not able to have late pick-ups (unless it is an emergency) so make sure to arrive early or on time. We will not have time to talk for extended periods of time at drop-off and pick-up. If you need to talk more about your student, please schedule a time to chat over the phone or in person. Please be prompt at drop off and pick up.
Please send your child(ren) clean, well-rested, fed and dressed for the day and fed. They will be playing, painting, creating and getting dirty. Send appropriate clothes for those activities. There will be times that they will get messy and dirty. Please don’t send them in clothes you would be upset to see get paint or dirt on.
We will only release your child(ren) to the parent/guardian or someone else you designate. If someone else is to pick up your child, please notify us ahead of time. Please inform emergency contacts, or people designated to pick up your child, that if we do not know them, we will need to see a photo ID. Please Note: If there is a court order keeping one parent away from the child(ren), we must have a copy to put in the child's file. Otherwise, we cannot prevent the parent from picking up the child(ren).
Tuition & Fees
Your Tuition will be on your contract and you are responsible for paying for your child’s spot (regardless of their attendance), monthly or weekly, depending on what was agreed upon and on the contract. That must be decided at the time the contract is signed. If you need to change it, it must be done with at least two weeks’ notice. If paying monthly, payment must be made on or before the 1st of each month. If paying by semester, payment must be made on or before the first day of the semester. If paying weekly, payment is due Monday MORNING before drop off. Contracts automatically renew each semester unless otherwise stated with an end date on the contract. Supply/curriculum fees are due each August $100/January $100/June $25/July$25.
Payments can be made with Zelle, Cash App, PayPal or cash.
***Please do not put me in the uncomfortable position of having to ask for payment, and any other fees that may have been added in the week.
Personal Belongings
All personal items must be clearly labeled with child’s name. Please make sure your child brings a backpack filled with weather appropriate change of clothes, a jacket and hat to cover ears if it is cold, a swim suit if it’s hot, an insulated water bottle that is easy for your child to drink out of (we will fill it with water throughout the day and encourage them to drink often.), and a nap mat (if your child is here full day). Their backpacks can stay here or you can take them home each day. The water bottles need to be left at school. I take no responsibility for lost, stolen, or broken toys/videos brought from home.
Clothing/Attire
Children should arrive dressed for play! Having fun includes outdoor activities and can include messy activities, so please make sure your child is dressed appropriately. A backpack with a change of clothes is required in case it is needed.
Potty Training
Children enrolled in our program must be potty trained or in the process. If they are close to being trained and the parents are working with them at home, we are willing to assist the child at school. Potty training is easiest when things are the same at home and at school. Do not send your child to school in cloth underwear until they have been going dry for at least a whole weekend, if not a whole week. If they are NOT going regularly at home, please send them in a diaper instead of a pull-up. It is easier to change with a diaper.
Meals
Meals are NOT included in your tuition. The children will be given a small morning and afternoon snack. Your child needs to be fed BREAKFAST BEFORE arriving so that they are ready to play and learn. If your child is here for lunch break, please pack them a lunch each day. If your child has a food allergy, please send something for snack times, as well. Make sure your child has an insulated water bottle to either leave here if they are a regular student. Drop in students will take their water bottle home at the end of class.
Medicine
If a child requires medicine on a regular basis, please give children the medicine at home. We have a very busy schedule and there is not time to stop and give children medication. If the child requires an inhaler for emergencies, please send it in their backpack daily with their name on it.
Pets
We have two dogs. They very loving animals and the kids love them. They are kept in a separate area most of the time. Children may have contact with them at times and we will always wash our hands afterwards.
Transportation of Children
At times we may schedule a field trip. Normally, those field trips with be “family field trips” and parents are required to attend if the child goes. We will be making walking field trips to the new library and the park right next to it. That will not have any transportation issues, since we are walking.
Communication with Parents
Parents are responsible for keeping up with special dates and needed information. We have a quarterly newsletter; our online newsletter and a Telegram Messenger Group that ONLY current parents and family members can be in. I will post updates, need-to-know information, party info, sick notices, etc. on one or more of those. I will ONLY be sending texts when it concerns YOUR child; when we need something for them, when there is an issue with illness, injury or behavior. When we provide updates, please record them in your Parent Handbook that is sent home the beginning of each school year.
Health and Safety Matters
Hand washing – Hands will be washed before and after meals, after bathroom use, after nose blowing and wiping and after handling an ill child.
Toys and Equipment – Toys will be sterilized daily or as needed with the recommended cleaning solution.
Fire/Tornado Drills – Practice drills will be conducted quarterly and recorded.
SYMPTOMS REQUIRING REMOVAL OF CHILD FROM SCHOOL (no exceptions)
Please do not bring your child if he/she is sick; the health and wellbeing of all of the children here are of the utmost importance to me. It is for the protection of the children that I must insist on a strict adherence to my illness policy.
Please read it carefully.
Communicable Diseases: Not permitted in our school. Some of these illnesses are, but not limited to: Infectious Conjunctivitis (pink eye), Impetigo, Hepatitis A, Scabies, Ringworm, Infectious Diarrhea, Chicken Pox, Scarlet Fever, Lice, Strep Throat. If your child is thought to have a communicable disease, you will be notified and asked to pick him/her up. Your child will be accepted back into care when no longer contagious and must have a doctor’s note saying so. All other parents will be notified of possibility of a communicable disease and what symptoms to watch for.
Fever: Not Permitted. A child needs to be fever free for a minimum of 24 hours before returning to school; that means the child is fever free without the aid of any fever reducing substance. Administering Tylenol to reduce your child's fever so that you can bring him/her is grounds for termination. (A) Oral temperature above 101 degrees and accompanied by behavior changes or other signs or symptoms of illness; (B) Armpit temperature above 100 degrees and accompanied by behavior changes or other signs or symptoms of illness; (C) Symptoms and signs of possible severe illness, such as lethargy, abnormal breathing, uncontrolled diarrhea, two or more vomiting episodes in 24 hours, rash with fever, mouth sores with drooling, wheezing, behavior changes, or other signs that the child may be severely ill; and (4) A health-care professional has diagnosed the child with a communicable disease, and the child does not have medical documentation to indicate that the child is no longer contagious.
Diarrhea: Not Permitted. Children may return to care 24 hours after beginning an antibiotic or needs to be diarrhea free for a minimum of 24 hours.
VOMITING: Not Permitted. If your child vomits while at school, you will be expected to come within THE HOUR to pick your child up. The child must stay home until 24 hours have passed with NO VOMITING EPISODES.
Running Nose: Your child may be brought to school if he/she has a common cold (slight occasional cough, clear runny nose, occasional sneezing) Discharge of any color other than clear is not acceptable in school. A constant runny nose, which lasts longer than a week and you suspect it may be due to allergies, I will require you to bring a doctor’s note stating the same.
Rashes: Not Permitted. Any rash must accompany the child to school with a note from the doctor stating it is not contagious.
Runny and/or Crusty Eyes: Not Permitted. Watery, matted, and/or red/pink eyes are not acceptable in school under any circumstances.
Lice: Not permitted back to school until after the second hair treatment.
24 Hour Rule: Your child must be free from any of the above symptoms for a minimum of 24 hours before you can return to school. NO EXCEPTIONS. If you arrive and tell me your Child's fever broke at noon the previous day, you will be asked to leave. DO NOT MEDICATE YOUR CHILD’S FEVER BEFORE DROPPING OFF. KEEP THEM HOME.
Please take the rules seriously. It is always best to call me and ask if you are unsure whether or not you may bring your child. Any infractions of the above rules and you will be called to come and pick up your child. Repeated calls to have you return here to pick up your child may result in termination (with all fees due and payable).
Behavior Management & Discipline
The children are explained the school rules frequently, so that they know the guidelines. Once a child understands the rules and disobeys them, hurts others, or property, the following techniques will be used:
1.Positive Reinforcement: The child will be encouraged when he/she is demonstrating acceptable behavior.
2.Redirection: The child is redirected to another activity and given an opportunity to try again at another time.
3.Time In: The child is separated from the group for a regulated period of time and put in an area where they can positively think over their actions and how they can make better choices. This is used only when child is exhibiting a temper tantrum type behavior or hurting self, others, or property. When child shows that he/she is ready to demonstrate acceptable behavior, they are encouraged to join the rest of the group and try again.
4.Last Resort: When a child's behavior is continually upsetting or dangerous to others, themselves, or myself a call will be placed to the parents for the child to be picked up. If problems persist and cannot be resolved, this can be a cause for termination of care (with all fees due and payable).
Termination
If we feel BCAA is not the right place for your child and we are not meeting their educational needs, or behavior or destruction of property is an issue that can’t be corrected, we may choose to terminate the contract. If parent wishes to terminate agreement, two weeks written notice must be given. No refunds will be made for time student in not in class due to termination. BCAA reserves the right to terminate for the following reasons (but not limited to):
Lack of compliance with handbook policies including failure to pay or pay on time and/or consistent late pickups
Lack of parental cooperation or disrespect or verbal or written false information from parent
Failure of child to adjust to school and/or our inability to meet child’s educational needs.
Emergency Plan
In the event of an emergency, we have several plans to accommodate each event.
Tornado: We will move into the hall with all doors shut. There are no windows. We have a flashlight in case the lights go out. We will have toys to keep the kid’s attention occupied on something other than the storm. I will take my book with me that contains the children’s information and emergency numbers in them. I will contact the parents after we are in a safe place to let them know what we are doing. Once the warning is over, we will return to normal activities.
Fire: (or other household emergency that requires us to leave the home) We will quietly form a line at the door and walk across the street to await the fire department and there ok to return to the home. I will contact the parents to pick up their children as soon as possible (if it appears that we will not be able to safely return to the home) and inform them of what is going on. If the situation requires, we leave the house and street we will walk down and around the corner to the East Library and Recreation Center 1815 New York Ave. (817) 275-1351.
Communicable disease outbreak or other medical emergency: In the event that we discover the outbreak of a communicable disease all parents will be informed. In case of a medical emergency, first 911 will be contacted. If there is an older child or another adult present then they will help contact the parents and help keep other children calm and playing quietly. We will do whatever instructed until help arrives.
Intruder: If an intruder should enter our home, we will act in a way that is non-threatening so as not to put the children or ourselves in more danger. We will not act in any way aggressive or argumentative. Once that person leaves the authorities will be notified, as well as the parents. As this would be a traumatic experience the parents would be asked to pick up their children and talk to them about what happened to relieve the child’s stress and fear.
In whatever emergency that should arise the proper authorities and the parents will always be informed as soon as possible. We want to take every precaution so that none of these things do happen but in the even they do it is always best to be prepared. A lot of our rules are in place to prevent many of these things from happening and/or getting out of control. Thank you for working with us to keep your kids safe.
Reporting Child Abuse
I am required by law to report any signs of child abuse. If you suspect a child is being abused or neglected, call 1-800-252-5400 to make a report.
